In Puerto Rico, Three Kings Day (Día de Reyes) on January 6th is one of the island’s most treasured traditions. Families celebrate with food, music, and faith. On the evening of January 5th, children prepare shoeboxes filled with grass for the Kings’ camels, placing them under their beds. By morning, they awake to gifts — a moment of magic that marks the season.
This year, Amour Getaways, the Newport News/Hampton Area Missionary Council, and local faith-based and community leaders are joining together to make sure that 200 children in Loíza experience that joy.
Known as Puerto Rico’s cultural heart, Loíza is rich with bomba rhythms, artistry, and spiritual heritage. Yet many families face economic challenges, and gifts are not always possible during the holidays.
By donating, you honor both the tradition of Día de Reyes and the children of Loíza, ensuring they feel celebrated and cared for.

My adventure in Puerto Rico was beautifully balanced. Karina arranged a breathtaking visit to El Yunque National Forest, where the lush greenery and waterfalls created an awe-inspiring escape. We explored Old San Juan on both daytime and nighttime walking tours that gave me a rich sense of history, culture, and vibrant city life. During the day, the colorful architecture and lively streets drew me in, while the night tour brought the city’s music, energy, and la fiesta! Let me not forget, the trip to the Aguas Termales in Coamo to experience the healing power of the natural hot springs. All of the beaches were beyond amazing—relaxing, picturesque, and the perfect contrast to the city’s energy. Karina also curated unforgettable culinary experiences, from savoring authentic local dishes to snatching up street food. The culture and rhythms of the island were shared with me through Tamboricua performances that made me want to dance. What truly set this trip apart was Karina’s ability to create harmony between adventure, culture, and relaxation. She wove together the island’s natural beauty, historical richness, and artistic heartbeat into an itinerary that flowed effortlessly. Amour Getaways and Karina delivered an experience that was not just a vacation but a true immersion into Puerto Rico’s spirit. I left feeling renewed, inspired, and deeply connected to the culture.
